July 4th Weekend in the Cape Fear

What better way to celebrate the land of the free and the home of the brave then spending it in the Cape Fear Region! Whether you are a local, or visitor, we are giving you a quick rundown of the biggest events happening around the area.

 

Independence Day Fireworks by the Sea & Boardwalk Blast

July 2 | 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. | Carolina Beach Boardwalk

Bring the family and head to the legendary Carolina Beach Boardwalk for the Boardwalk Blast and Independence Day Fireworks by the Sea. This event will feature live music with the Johnny Folsom 4, a Johnny Cash tribute band, followed by a fireworks display over the Atlantic Ocean.

 

The Imitations Concert

July 3 | 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. | Live Oak Commons at Riverlights

Get out your lawn chairs or beach blankets and meet us at Live Oak Commons for our summer concert! The Imitations have been entertaining Wilmington for over 25 years and this will certainly be a night you do not want to miss! Dancing is encouraged! We ask that you leave your pets at home but family and friends are encouraged to attend. Lobster Dogs Food Truck will be serving their lobster rolls, cool off with Sunset Slush, or pop into one of the Marina Village restaurants for additional food offerings, beer, and wine. 

 

Red, White, & Blue Freedom Flotilla

July 4 | 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. | Southport

Boats are encouraged to join in this event and show their patriotic spirit! Starting at 2:00 p.m., boats will begin their route at Southport’s Old Yacht Basin and travel past Waterfront Park and City Pier just past Kingsley Park to marker 23 and return to St. James Plantation Marina. City of Wilmington 4th of July Fireworks

Sunday, July 4 | 9:05 pm | Downtown Wilmington Riverfront

Fireworks are back! Head to historic downtown Wilmington for a celebration of our nation’s independence with the 2021 City of Wilmington 4th of July Fireworks display. Fireworks will be shot off a barge in the Cape Fear River near the Battleship NORTH CAROLINA starting around 9:05 p.m. They can be seen along the downtown Wilmington riverfront.
