Family Fun

Wilmington is a city full of family fun everywhere you look. Whether it’s a museum, or outdoor park, there is so much to offer for families right here in our backyard. Some of our favorites are listed below.

Museums

Children’s Museum of Wilmington - Wilmington’s only museum dedicated for children up to age 10! With over 15 exhibits, daily programs, and monthly special events, the museum is full of excitement and fun for the kiddos.

Cape Fear Museum of History & Science - Founded in 1898, this is the oldest museum in the city of Wilmington. A list of the museum’s exhibition schedule can be found here. One of our favorites is the Michael Jordan: Achieving Success exhibit that features memorabilia from the basketball legend who grew up in Wilmington.

Outdoor Fun

Jungle Rapids Family Fun Park - Bring on the fun! Jungle Rapids is voted the “Best Water Park in Eastern North Carolina” and it definitely lives up to the hype. In addition to water fun, the park also has go karts, laser tag, mini golf, mini bowling, rock climbing wall, and an arcade! View their schedule and hours here.

Fort Fisher State Historic Site - The tour trail is approximately one-quarter-mile long and encircles the remains of the fort on the river side of the highway. Exhibit panels containing photos and text are located at many locations along the tour trail. A restored gun emplacement is located on top of one of the batteries. Battle Acre, a monument to Confederate dead, is located on the ocean side of U.S. 421. A pavilion located at the northern end of the parking lot houses a display on underwater archaeology. Bring your family to this historic site to learn about the deep rooted history of Carolina’s coast.
