Spooky Events in the Cape Fear

October is here and Halloween is just around the corner! While Trick or Treating is only one day a year, we wanted to give you 5 other spooky activities for the entire family to do in the Cape Fear area

1) October 28: Art Explorers Monster Masks

If you’re looking for an event for your little one, head to Cameron Art Museum where THEY have a chance to do the scaring this Halloween. Kids can create their own monster masks and stroll around the galleries scaring everyone in sight.

2) October 29: Monster Movie Madness at the Mansion

Trying to find an event for the whole family? The Bellamy Mansion is hosting a night of monster movies on their beautiful, spacious lawn starting at 6pm. They will have hot dogs, popcorn, beer, wine, and other food for sale so you can snack along with the movies. Make sure to bring your own lawn chairs and wear a costume if you want an extra treat!

3) October 29: Pup-O-Ween Dog Costume Contest

Does your dog love Halloween too? Hi-Wire brewing is hosting a costume contest for your pup! So, dress up your pet, grab a beer, and maybe even win some prizes! We would love to see some Riverlights pups there!

4) Every weekend October 1-November 6: Phobia Haunted Trail

If you are looking for something truly scary this Halloween, head over to Leland, to walk the 30-minute trail of spooky clowns. This is Phobia’s fourth year of hosting its spooky trail so they know how to provide a scare for the folks who can handle it. This event runs every weekend throughout October so make sure to buy your ticket, put on your walking shoes, and be ready to scream.

5) Every night until November 30: Ghost Walk of Old Wilmington

The Ghost Walk of Old Wilmington is one of Wilmington’s most popular attractions. Voted "One of America's Top 5 Ghost Walk Tours" by USA Today and one of the "Top 10 Tours in the U.S." by Trip Advisor, this tour will not only give you a spook, but some great history about the city and its ghostly occurrences as well. The stories the guides tell are true life hauntings located in historic homes, burial grounds, and alleyways. You may experience some actual ghost encounters during your tour!
