Life is Better with a Little Color

The power of color and its effects on our day-to-day is undeniable. Colors invoke feelings, influence thoughts and spur creativity. They have the ability to sway our decisions and influence our moods. In 2020, we all spent an exorbitant amount of time indoors, and during that time, many found ourselves itching for some type of change. Luckily, one of the simplest ways to alter the interior of your home is with a fresh coat of paint.

Although we say “simple,” one must pick a paint color first before getting started. This alone can be a daunting task. With thousands upon thousands of colors and hues to choose from, how does one decide? Well, you can start with the professional color experts to help whittle down the search.

In September of last year, Pantone announced they were picking, not one, but TWO Pantone colors for 2021- Ultimate Grey and Illuminating. Ultimate Grey is a lovely shade of grey that is both warm, clean and inviting, while Illuminating is a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day. The two colors contrast and complement each other. Whether it be a wall color, sunny pops of décor or an accent wall, these two colors are a win-win.

However, Pantone is not the only color authority. Benjamin Moore has chosen Aegean Teal for 2021. With its mellow vibe, the color subtly blends the blues, greens and greys of the Aegean Sea. It would surely compliment your kitchen island or your living room walls, bringing with it a sense of calm.

Taking a darker approach, Sherwin Williams has chosen Urbane Bronze as their color for the year. This soothing brown tone brings a feeling of nature inside the home. There is a simplicity to it that embraces the great outdoors all while staying trendy. Afraid to go with a darker tone? Don’t be. This warm color can bring drama into any room.
