Top 4 Things to "Spring" Into Wilmington, NC

Who doesn’t love spring? It’s not too cold, not too hot, and it’s the perfect time to get out-and-about! While the local beaches such as Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach and Kure Beach have the allure of salt air and rolling waves, there is plenty to do in Wilmington, without getting sand between your toes. Here are just a couple of options to spring into the Port City.

Go Berry Picking

Strawberry season is upon us and it is almost time to get picking. Starting mid-April, Lewis Farms will be opening up to the public for what they like to call “U-Pic.” So grab your basket and your friends, head out to the farm, and while you are there, indulge in some delicious homemade strawberry ice cream! But wait, the fun doesn’t stop there! Return in May for fresh blueberries and again in June for blackberries.

Eat donuts- Carolina Beach Boardwalk

Voted by Food and Wine magazine as one of the top 10 boardwalks in America, the Carolina Beach Boardwalk is a must-see.  Stroll along the ocean and enjoy shops, restaurants, tiki bars and more. Our recommendation, make sure to stop by the famous Britts Donut Shop, which opens the first weekend in April. Some locals would say it isn’t spring until you’ve gotten your “Britt fix.” You may have to wait in line, but it’ll be well worth the wait. You can thank us later.

Take a stroll down the Wilmington Riverwalk

Take a trip to Historic Downtown Wilmington and enjoy the scenic riverwalk along the Cape Fear River. Recently voted by USA Today as the second best riverwalk in the country, it runs parallel to the river for close to 2 miles. So while you stroll, take in the river views while popping into unique boutiques and eateries. Don’t feel like walking? Ride in style by grabbing a horse-drawn carriage to take you on a history tour of downtown Wilmington.

Breweries, Brews and Beer Gardens

With Wilmington slowly becoming a mecca in the brewery scene with over 20 local breweries, we now top a new list, according to Craftbeer.com’s list of “Top 5 Beeriest Beach Towns.” There is never a shortage of places to grab a pint and enjoy the sunshine. With many food trucks pairing with local breweries, it’s easy to enjoy an impromptu lunch or dinner while listening to live music and ordering another round.

As you can see, there is a plethora of things to do when you want to spring into Wilmington. These are just to name a few. If you are interested in making Wilmington your next home, pop by the Riverlights Information Center or give us a call and we can tell you all the ways you could spring into a new home at Riverlights.
