Home to Johnny Mercer's Pier, Wrightsville Beach boasts beautiful turquoise waters. Lay in the sun, take paddle-board lessons, or fish from the pier. Then take a walk on the Wrightsville Beach Loop, have a sunset boat tour of the Intracoastal Waterway, or sail your boat right up to Dockside for an evening cocktail.
Experience a new kind of fun on Pleasure Island, where the vintage appeal of the Carolina Beach boardwalk combines with miles of beautiful beaches. Drive in the sand up to The North End, where the calm waters of the Intracoastal Waterway meet the Atlantic Ocean. Enjoy summertime amusements like live music and fireworks every Thursday evening. Don't forget to take a ride on the Ferris wheel and stand in line for an award winning Britt's Donut.
Quaint meets quirky here and plays host to the oldest fishing pier on the Atlantic coast. With the Kure Beach Street Festival in the spring, and summer concerts in the park, there are plenty of activities for kids of all ages. Then drive on down to the North Carolina Aquarium at Ft. Fisher, have a picnic under the majestic Oaks, and ride the Ferry down to Historic Southport.
Explore the less traveled barrier islands, such as Topsail Island, Oak Island, or Bald Head Island; or find your way down to Caswell Beach, Holden Beach, Ocean Isle, Sunset Beach, or Calabash.
